Premier medical institute of the country, Puducherry-based Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, also known as JIPMER, will conduct its MBBS entrance examination on Sunday, the 4th of June 2017.
Application forms for the entrance exam have been released on the official website of the institute. The exam is conducted once a year for admission of medical aspirants for the 200 undergraduate medical seats at the two campuses - JIPMER Puducherry & JIPMER Karaikal.
AIIMS and JIPMER are the only medical institutes in the country which will conduct their own medical entrance examination and are exempted from conducting admissions based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG.
Eligibility for JIPMER MBBS 2017:
- Candidates who wish to apply for JIPMER MBBS 2017 entrance exam must have completed their class 12th or equivalent with major subjects including Biology or Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics and English.
- Moreover, it is mandatory for the candidate to have secured at least 50% marks in order to be able to appear for the medical entrance exam. On the other hand, persons with disability (PwD) candidates should have secured 45% marks and other reserved category candidates ought to have secured at least 40% marks to apply for the exam.
- As far as the age criteria is concerned, the candidate should be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission. There is no age cap or upper age limit for the MBBS entrance exam at JIPMER.

The admission process (counselling and seat allotment) will begin after the declaration of JIPMER MBBS 2017 results. The entire process is expected to be completed by 30th September 2017.
