With an objective to impart quality education, Vellore Institute of Technology is all set to establish its third campus at Bhopal. For this purpose, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the government of Madhya Pradesh and VIT. The foundation stone will be laid by Honourable Chief Minister of the state Shivraj Singh Chouhan on October 20, 2016. VIT is being set up on an area of 100 acres with an investment of Rs. 500 crore.
Vishwanathan, Chancellor-Founder of VIT, revealed that they are also planning to set up a medical college in the coming years to meet the shortage of doctors. He also mentioned that the programmes offered by VIT were accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2003 and re-accredited in the year 2015.
Recently, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA has granted an international recognition to 14 B.Tech programmes offered by VIT. It is the first university to receive this recognition.
Currently, a total number of 991 students from Madhya Pradesh are pursuing various courses at VIT, Chennai & Vellore campuses. During the admission process, VIT had received 15,000 applications from the students of MP for the admission to various courses.
