Exploring the options of medical courses and medical fields in the world, Banaras Hindu University has introduced a 6-month certificate course that studies paranormal activities. The course will focus on learning psychotherapy and the treatment of psychosomatic and abnormal psychological conditions.
The 6-month certificate course will be applicable to all graduates of MBBS and Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). BHU states that the course will foresee methodologies to develop cures for diseases that have been caused by unknown reasons. These unknown reasons, BHU states, are normally known as Bhoot (ghosts) or paranormal activities.
The classes to the certificate course will begin in January, the classes of which will be overlooked by the Department of Ayurveda. For “Bhoot Vidya”, an entire unit had been established under the Faculty of Ayurveda. The unit had been developed to offer formal education to all graduates of MBBS and BAMS.

The Faculty of Ayurveda is among the first to develop an entre certificate course on “Bhoot Vidya” along with establishing an entire unit for the formal education in the field. Bhoot Vidya, the varsity state is one of the eight fundamental branches of the Ashtanga Ayurveda.

Proposals to lay the foundation stone to set up an individual unit for “Bhoot Vidya” had been designed over 6 months ago. For the purpose, a meeting had been held with all the 16 Heads of Department at the varsity, who later went on to approve the establishment of the same. The proposal was then sent forward to the academic council of Banaras Hindu University, which further approved the proposal for the separate unit. This paved the way for the creation of a certificate course on one of the Ashtanga Ayurveda branches as well.
