Communication & Personality Development Cell of PCCOE Pune

Training Program on Aptitude and Soft Skill for SE:

To improve the communication skills and groom the overall personality of students as to adapt them easily to corporate culture, the training program on “Aptitude and Soft skills” was started for all the second year engineering students. It also prepared them for aptitude tests for various companies and other competitive exams. The session was 80 hours duration, out of this, 40 hours are planned in this second semester of 2015 – 16 and the remaining 40 hours will be in the first semester of 2016-17. Total 823 students were benefitted by this training.

This training coordinated by the team of CPDC were:

Course on Aptitude and Soft Skill:

For the First year ME [Comp, EnTc, IT & Mech] students, the course on “Aptitude and Soft skills Training” was started by Mr. Ronak shah, the duration was 60 hours, where 60 students were benefited by this training. It was co-ordinated by Mrs. Meera Natarajan, CPDC Cell Incharge and all the PG coordinators under the guidance of Dr. S.U.Bhandari, Dean – Student Development & Welfare.

YES!+ Course was organized for the first year students who were admitted late and did not complete the course in the semester - 1. It was organized from 08th Jan'15 to 12th Jan'15 by FE department and this was coordinated by Mrs. Meera Natarajan, Mr. Jayant Jadhav and Mr. G.C.Sarode of FE Department. Total 124 students participated in this course in this semester. Right now 684 students have completed this course in this academic year.

Spoken English for Primary students of Zilla Parishad School, Maval:

A Session on “Spoken English for Primary students of Zilla Parishad School- Maval” was arranged by the CPDC cell during NSS Camp on 29th December 2015. The session was conducted by -

  • Mrs.Deepa Abin, CPDC coordinator, and S.E students
  • Ms. Neha Punjabi
  • Ms. Manasi Sonawane
  • Ms.Anuja Wararkar

The main focus of the lecture was on framing small English sentences correctly, to give the proper self-introduction, basics of English language. Simple fun filled activities were arranged to motivate the small students to come forward and speak out. The session was very well received by the students and the experience was unique of its kind.

Seminar on Formal Business Communication:

For S.E, T.E and B.E students of Computer Department on 3rd February 2016, a Seminar on ‘Formal Business Communication’ was organized by the CPDC cell of Computer Department on 3rd February 2016. The session was conducted by Ms. Prachee Mahambre, MD of Institute of Professional Excellence (PROFEX).

The session focussed on the following areas like:

  • Listening skills
  • Body language
  • Email etiquettes
  • Video conferencing
  • Telephone etiquettes tips

Besides that the importance of business communication was conveyed to students with appropriate examples which also included the right 'Tone and Pitch' during telephonic conversations. A lot of emphases was given on usage of correct grammatical sentences and its usage. It was a very informative and beneficial session to the students at large.

Seminar on Presentation Skill and Grooming:

‘Presentation Skills and Grooming’ was the theme of Seminar organized by the CPDC cell of Computer Department for T.E Computer students on 10th March 2016. It was conducted by Mr.Kushal Raut, CommuniCare – Training and Content Solutions. The seminar was an articulation of a set of stories based on Public Speaking and successfully making a connection with the audience, Do’s and Don’ts of Public Speaking, Presentation Skills (with or without PPTs) and Grooming Skills. A lot of emphases was given on the importance of the students to come out of their comfort zone and be more vocal. Students highly appreciated the session and gave a very positive feedback.

Technical Writing Event:

“Technical Writing event” was organized by CPDC Cell of Computer Department during Techlligent 2016 on 12th January 2016.Students were allowed to participate individually or in a team of two. The challenge here was the students had to submit a precise summary which was technically and grammatically correct. This event was organized to help students to with sound technical writing skills. The topics could be chosen from the domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Database Management, Parallel Computing and Distributed Programming, Information Security, Algorithms etc. The word limit was 400-500 words.

The judges for the event were-

  • Prof. Dr. J.S Umale
  • Aakansha Wani

Komal Vanjari B.E Comp students) and secured the first place while Darshit Patel (B.E Comp.) was the first runner-up.

Workshop on Self-Esteem and Guest Lecture on essentials of IT Mind:

On 3rd October 2015, the workshop on Self Concept and Self Esteem was organized by MBA department. Around 50 students from MBA-I year attended the lecture. Dr. Anuja Johri successfully arranged and coordinated this activity based workshop. The prime objective of the workshop was to make students aware about themselves and boost their confidence by loving themselves.

MCA Department of the arranged one day workshop on Essentials for IT Mind on 12th Aug 2015 for first year MCA students. The motive of this guest lecture was to build the confidence and positive attitude in the students towards their career. The Guest lecture was conducted by Mrs. Anuradha Phadnis and coordinated by Prof. Dipali Railkar.
