Udaipur, On Monday 13th June, 2016, Local court has ordered for an investigation on the petition filesd by a professor in Vidhyapeeth University, the petition was filed by Mr. Prafull Nagar against Dr. S.S.Sarangdevot. Petitions follow challenging the credentials and eligibility of Dr S S Sarangdevot, the vice chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur.
Taking cognizance of a petition filed by Prafull Nagar, court ordered the police to investigate the matter. Prafull Nagar has challenged the claim by Dr Sarangdevot of having the requisite experience of 10 years as a Professor to be eligible for the post.
It must be noted that Dr Sarangdevot recently supposed the post of vice chancellor for the second term on June 5. On the basis of University Grant Commission (UGC) Notification, it is mandatory that, for any applicant which is submitted to have min 10 years of experience as a Professor in any University or 10 years of equivalent position in reputed academic or research institute to be appointed as VC of a deemed University.
Whereas, Mr. Prafull Nagar claims that Dr. S. S. Sarangdevot was appointed as associate professor in Sept, 2014 and was appointed a Professor on Nov 21, 2008. Hence, he will complete 10 years of his Professorship in 2018. So, there was a mistake in application filled by Dr. S. S. Sarangdevot. The petitioner has also challenged the earlier appointment of Dr Sarangdevot as he had less than 5 years of appointment.
