Established in the Year 1956, Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya “IKSV” is situated in the Khairagarh township of Chhattisgarh State of India. A different University by its type, where higher education is imparted in the field of Music, Dance, Fine Arts and Theatre. Honorable Governor of the Chhattisgarh State is the Chancellor and Administrative cum Academic Head of I.K.S.V.Khairagarh.

It is Asia's First University which is fully dedicated to various forms of Music, Dance, Fine Arts and Theatre. This institution is actively engaged in pursuing artistic, academic and cultural goals at this time when music and fine arts society is passing through rapid change and is introduced to the globalization.

University from the day of inception is putting its effort for preservation and propagation of holistic knowledge in the field of Music and Fine Arts. This pious effort of the University is acknowledged by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (N.A.A.C.), Bangalroe and after assessment in the Year 2014, Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairgarh was accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. This achievement of the University has also added another rare jewel in the crown by becoming the

FIRST and ONLY University in the Chhattisgarh State which was accredited as Grade ‘A’ university by NAAC.

Organized through five different faculties encapsulated with various associated departments, affiliated colleges, examination centers and several other units, this University conducts teaching and research programmes in the very distinct field of Indian Music, Dance, Theatre & Visual Art forms.

Faculty of Visual Arts:

Department of Painting

Established in the Year 1973, the department of Painting is associated in providing learning on scientific principles and creative aspects of the Painting. These principles form the core of the budding artists and release their artistic creativity. The Department offers Under Graduate B.F.A. and Post Graduate M.F.A. programmes. Research work on Indian Contemporary and Western Art forms is encouraged through Ph. D. and D. Litt. Programmes. The department is also running one year art appreciation diploma course.

1.M.F.A. in Painting-

B.F.A./B.V.A. (4 Years Degree Course) in Painting/Graphics/Applied arts.

2.M.F.A. in Sculpture-

B.F.A./B.V.A. (4 Years Degree Course) in Sculpture.

Admission Procedure:

1.Admission Form

Admission Form is available at the University on payment of Rs.600.00 for Indian students and Rs. 1200.00 for foreign/NRI students by cash or bank draft in favour of the Registrar, I. K. S. Vishwavidyalaya payable at Khairagarh.

Aptitude test is taken (for all Faculties)

  1. Applicants have to clear the aptitude test for admission in their choice of programme.
  2. On the basis of the candidates performance necessary approvals for admission will be sanctioned to deserving candidate by the Departmental Admission Committee.

2.Upper age limits (on 01st July 2016)

Age limit is 26 Years

-Relaxation in upper age limit

  1. No age limit for women candidates.

  2. No age limit for admission in the courses running by the Department of Life Long Learning.

  3. Relaxation in age limit by 3 years for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC category.

  4. Relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years for handicapped/differently abled applicants.

3.Reservation & Relaxation

  • This university has reserved seats for the applicants belonging to different categories in all degree and diploma courses as mentioned hereunder:
  1. Scheduled Tribes : 32%

  2. Scheduled Caste : 12%

  3. OBC : 14%

  4. Handicapped : 03%

  5. Foreign / NRI students : 10%

  6. For the children of Indian workers, working in Gulf Countries : 05%

  7. For the students, whose parents are transferred from other states to : 10 %

  • Chhattisgarh Residents
  1. The percentage of reservation in each category is interchangeable.

  2. In case some part of the quotas remains vacant it will be open for the students of general category, for the academic session.

  3. Relaxation in minimum prescribed marks for admission by 5% for the applicants belonging to SC and ST category.

4.List of Documents required to be submitted along with the application form:

  1. Attested photocopies of mark-sheets and certificates of qualifying examinations.

  2. Proof of date of birth.

  3. Character certificate from the last attended Institution or competent authority. (Attested photocopy)

  4. In case of gap(s) between two sessions, an affidavit from a competent authority is required.

  5. Applicants seeking admission under reserved category must submit a latest certificate from the competent authority in support of their claim.

  6. Transfer certificate must be submitted in original at the time of admission.

  7. On the recommendation from the head of the department, a period of one month will be given to submit the migration certificate.

5.Additional documents required from Foreign/NRI Students:

  1. AIDS clearance certificate.

  2. Student visa.

6.Admission Restrictions:

  1. University will not allow any such student for admission, whose conduct is not conducive to the traditions and academic environment of the University.

  2. Change in subjects, if required, will be allowed only once before 31st August 2015 with special permission of the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the concerned H.O.D.

  3. B.F.A., B.A. (Theater), M.F.A., and M.A. (Theater) courses are not available for private students.
