Govt. Dudhdhari Bajrang Girls' Post-Graduate Autonomous College is a premier institution of higher education in Chhattisgarh.
The 4.47 acres land of the college campus and 300 acress of land was donated by a Trust headed by Mahant Dudh-Ahari Bajrang Das. The college has the logo “Aroh Tamso Jyotih” meaning from “darkness to light” as it was set up with the aim to bring the women of this under-developed region to the main stream of the nation. Started with mere 16 girls,the college today has 3000 students striving ahead for academic excellence.
The college got an autonomous status in the year 1988. There is a “Jan Bhagidari Samiti” which looks after the planning, recruitment and financial management of the institution.
This Govt. college is affiliated to Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur and ranks among the best colleges of State. It is widely known for its multi-disciplinary areas of study viz. Arts, Commerce, Science and Home-Science subjects. Study Centre of IGNOU for M. Sc( DFSM) – Dietetics & food service management has been introduced the institution from October 2005. The faculty of Home Science has been declared by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Chhattisgarh as "Centre for Excellence in Home Science Studies".
The huge campus of the college has a building with sufficient number of rooms, 15 laboratories and 03 computer labs with more than 100 computers. The college has a rich library with 63,022 books and 57 research journals. The college has extensive playground for outdoor games and a multipurpose hall for indoor games. The college has 04 hostels about 600students.
The institution is sensitive towards students academic and other requirements. Therefore, a number of vocational and self-financing courses have been started.
The college is a recognized research centre for Home-Science, Geography, Botany, Zoology, Hindi, English, Sociology, Home Science, Physical Education, History The college excels in the field of research activities, a number of research projects have been completed. National Seminars and work-shops are the regular features of the activities of college academicians. Extension activities are carried out by the members of teaching staff. Guest lectures by experts of various subjects and practicing professionals are organized throughout the year. One NCC and two NSS units are at work and have earned laurels for the institution. A career guidance cell has also been set up. An alumni association is formed to inspire, support and encourage the students.
Keeping pace with the changing trends in higher education and educational technology, computer education has been started at first degree level and PG level (PGDCA).
