The University of Delhi, commonly known as DU, is one of the several institutions that were shortlisted by the government under the ‘Institutes of Eminence’ (IoE) scheme. This scheme was launched in the year 2018 with the objective of putting India on the global education map. At present, even the best universities of India are failing to feature among the top 100 positions, thus making Indian presence on global excellence lists negligible. Earlier this month, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had given a nod to all IoEs to set up off-shore or abroad campuses, as part of achieving the National Education Policy’s stated intent of “internationalisation of education”.
