Under the aegis of Department of Religious Studies, of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised a one-day workshop on the theme of “Curriculum Development & Syllabus Framing of Religious Studies."

Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Vice-Chancellor of the University inaugurated the workshop on December 19, 2016 at Nowgam-II academic block. Addressing the august guests, the Vice-Chancellor lauded the department of Religious Studies for organising the workshop on the development of curriculum. He appealed the experts to debate about the curriculum to be devised for teaching the students. This department must the able to give an example to the world what actually religions teach to human society and the what is the main purpose of the religion. He was of the opinion that almost all the fundamentals tenets of any religion are same. But it is the people with vested interest try to interpret them in a different manner.

Present on the occasion were:
- Prof. Muhammad Aslam, Director Research and Development
- Prof. Muhammad Aslam, Dean School of Social Sciences
- Prof. Hamidullah Marazi, Deans of other Schools, Heads of Departments
- Experts from the concerned fields
- Faculty members
- Students and other university officials
In the course of his address, he also said that the University is to sign Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with several institutions both at national and international level. Though these MoUs they will try to explore the possibility of students exchange programmes.

He also asked the organisers to upload the draft of the deliberation held during the workshop on the website of the University so that it generates opinion and feedback from the cross section of the people.
