Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections will be held on 9th September this year, said an official statement from the university. But the date of counting of votes and announcement of results are yet to be declared.
Like last year, DUSU elections will be held in two shifts.
- 8.30 am to 12.30 pm
- 3 pm to 7 pm

Candidates intending to contest the election will get time till 3 pm on September 1 to submit their nomination papers. After that their nomination papers will be scrutinised. By 6 pm on the same day, the first list of candidates will be released. However, the candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination till 3rd September.
To smoothly conduct the election, on last week the university has announced a team of officials. These officials are -
- Chief Election Officer
- Chief Returning Officer and
- Returning Officer

In 2015 election Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the four major positions – the president, the vice-president, the secretary and the joint secretary. It had won a majority in the elections while defeating Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) – the students' wing of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress respectively.
DUSU represents students from most of the Delhi University colleges and faculties. Besides DUSU, DU colleges have their own representative bodies for which separate elections are held.
