The Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati Prof Gautam Biswas mentioned that there is a need to focus on growing ecological concerns. Emphasis has to be laid upon energy and water management. He clear indicated that there is a need to focus improving portable water availability and disposal of sewage.

Addressing the students at the inaugural session of Students’ Chapter of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), he said that steps must be taken for the conservation of water resources. The government needs to enhance sewerage monitoring, water supply infrastructure and treatment and disposal systems. It can be possible only when Green Infrastructure is targeted in a hostile way.

The students’ chapter of IIT Guwahati will focus on instilling concern towards planet Earth in the young minds. It focuses on building modern India in a greater and greener way. The commitment from the students is necessary to protect the environment.
