FYJC Admissions 2017: Second Merit List for Science, Arts and Commerce Released

  • In the second merit list, about 80,141 candidates became eligible for admission.
  • 6,239 candidates were allotted seats in Arts stream, 27,757 students in Commerce stream and 49,314 candidates in Science stream.
FYJC Admissions 2017: Second Merit List for Science, Arts and Commerce Released

The second merit/ cut-off list for First Year Junior Colleges (FYJC) in Maharashtra has been released on July 20, 2017. Continuing the trend, the second cut-offs for Commerce, Arts and Science courses are high. Few colleges have dropped the cut-offs for the admission to various UG courses. However, the colleges, which are in high demand among the students continued with high cut-offs. Among the three streams, Arts and Commerce stream witnessed high cut-offs. Compared to the first cut-off list, there was a slight dip in the second cut-offs.

Comparing the college wise cut-offs, HR College of Commerce and Economics cut-off list witnessed a dip of 0.4 percent from 91.4 percent in the first round. Now, the cut-off for Commerce stream is 91%. The cut-offs of KC College dropped by 3% for science stream making it 82.2 percent. There is no change in the cut-off for Arts courses while the Commerce courses witnessed a drop of 2 percent.

Usually, the second cut-off should witness a marginal dip from the first cut-off list. But, since this year, there is high competition among students to bag a seat at the most sought-after colleges - these colleges had no other option except to reduced the cutoffs by 0.4 to 2%. Surprisingly, Mithibai College increased the cut-off for Arts stream by 0.8 percent. There is no change in the cut-off for commerce stream. There were only a few seats left vacant in the college and the number of top scorers applying for Arts and Commerce stream courses was high.
