The Royal Global University (RGU) has been launched in Guwahati with 13 institutions to impart quality and holistic education to students of the region. The varsity will start functioning from the academic session 2017-18. Launched on February 11, 2017, the university's inauguration was attended by parents and students. On this occasion, the prospectus of varsity was unveiled.
A.K. Pansari, Vice-Chancellor of Royal Global University, said that the main aim of RGU is to create global citizens by offering nationally and internationally integrated opportunities. He further added that the Royal Group of Institutes (RGI) was established keeping in mind the need of a large group of students relying on foreign nations for quality education and better employment opportunities. The institute has been offering various courses in engineering, commerce, management and architecture.

He further explained that the primary emphasis of the varsity is in research, innovation and industry-oriented education. Academic excellence is possible only with these factors, he added. The varsity also inculcates value-based education among the students and grooms them in pursuing their profession and passion.

The government of Assam notified the Assam Royal Global University Act in the year 2013 and the academic year will commence from 2017-18 academic session.
