A national seminar on ‘Gender Sensitisation and Women Empowerment: Issues and Challenges’ will be held at Guwahati College on June 25 and 26 at the college premises. The seminar will be organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IAQC) of the Guwahati College in collaboration with Unity Education Foundation. Women Empowerment and gender equality is a universal issue of the present day. Women Empowerment refers to increasing and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure equal-right to women, and to make them confident enough to claim their rights.
The seminar, aimed at discussing the challenging issues regarding gender discrimination, awareness and women empowerment will generate outcomes that can be used in the formulation of policy on issues related to gender. The seminar will not only include inputs from faculty members, but also will allow the students to discuss and express each other’s views on a common platform.
The programme will be attended by noted academicians, scholars, teachers, researchers, NGO’s and students. Sub-research papers can be sent by students on themes and issues related to the main theme on or before June 20 to Dr Shafique rahman, convener, National Seminar, Guwahati College.
