Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal informed that the state government has decided not to conduct the examinations of all terminal examinations (final semesters) and Intermediate semester examinations for Higher and Technical Education of all courses due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. Earlier, it was decided that the exams will take place in July but with the rising number of cases, the same has been canceled.
He further informed that the students will be promoted to the next semester with a 50% weightage of marks of internal assessment and the remaining 50% weightage of the marks in previous examinations.
However, the students will have the option for examinations for improvement of grades later on by physical examinations basis once the normalcy prevails in the State. The same formula will also be applicable for distance education/private students. He also informed that if the university in the state wants to conduct an online examination it can conduct the same in online mode.
For intermediate semester examinations, all students will be promoted to the next semester with a 50% aggregate of marks of internal assessment or assignment plus 50% aggregate marks in the previous semester examinations.
For first-year students in Haryana, the promotion of the students to the next academic year will be done on the basis of internal assessment only. The department made it clear that no exams will be conducted for first-year students. However, if the practical examinations are not conducted in the university, in that case, the average of previous practical exams will be taken or 80% average of theory examinations marks from the previous semester.
Earlier, the state government decided to conduct the exams in July and to release the result by August 7 but due to the outbreak of Coronavirus the decision has been taken to cancel the exams.
