'Heritage India' Programme Launched For Connecting American Students of Indian Descent to Their Homeland

Indiaspora has launched a programme with the title 'Heritage India'. In this programme, high school students of the US who are originally from India will get a fully funded scholarship for a three weeks long trip to India.

'Heritage India' Programme Launched For Connecting American Students of Indian Descent to Their Homeland

In an attempt to connect the high school American students of Indian descent to their own homeland, a famous Indian-American organisation has declared that it will provide a fully funded scholarship for those students to travel to India for three weeks.

This programme is brought about by a non-profit organisation, Indiaspora and is titled ‘Heritage India’. It has been powered by 360+ which is another non-profit organisation. It aims at building connections and fostering closer relations between the country of India and its diaspora populations. This was declared in a statement that was released on 8th May 2019, Wednesday.

Eight students of high school will be given these fully funded scholarships from Indiaspora for participating in the programme. The programme’s theme is ‘India’s Riches: History, Culture, Diversity, and Democracy’.

The selected students will travel to three areas of India that are claimed to be culturally and geographically diverse. The places are Gujarat, New Delhi, and Kerala and they all represent the country in their own unique way. The curriculum will comprise hands-on interactive exhibitions, stimulating discussions, and also a service project in India.

Heritage India will be open for high school students who are aged between 15-18 years at the time of the trip. The trip will begin on 21st July 2019 and end on 10th August 2019. The Philanthropy Initiatives Manager of Indiaspora, Gabrielle Trippe, said that a person’s heritage is an integral part of their identity and Indiaspora was proud to announce this programme which would be a life-changing experience for these students.

Sridar Iyengar will oversee Heritage India and its proper execution. He is an independent mentor investor in the startups of early age and also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPMG India. He has created several youth immersion programmes for a diverse group of students by 360+, his non-profit organisation.
