The newest batch at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur has witnessed an enrolment of female candidates which has been higher than ever before at the institute in their flagship postgraduate programme of MBA. Sources state that the increase is a massive 388% from the previous batch.
As per sources, the female students who have been enrolled currently at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur have been enrolled from 13 different states across India. Moreover, they further stated that the students come from different academic backgrounds such as Accountancy, Hotel and Tourism Management, Mathematics and Physics among others. Furthermore, a female candidate has also been selected from overseas, sources mentioned.
In the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of female students at IIMs. IIM Sambalpur also witnessed a 50 per cent female enrolment for the first time.
Along with the impressive increase in the enrolment of female students at the Institute, sources state that male candidates, belonging to 22 different states have also been enlisted for the programme. Which means, that the institute has been able to provide admission to students belonging to the majority of the states, thus ensuring that multi-culturalism and diversity to grows in the Institute. The Indian Institute of Management Kashipur has also been able to take admissions of its students on the basis of the EWS or Economically Weaker Sections category, as directed by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
The newly-appointed Director of the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur praised the Institute and the opportunities that it provided the students. He mentioned that the students are provided with a much better environment since it is “located at the foothills of the Himalayas” which in turn keeps the students away from the pollution and hustle and bustle of the crowded cities where other Management Institutes are located. The sources also stated that the 5th batch of its PhD programme has also been completed.
