How IIMs Plan To Provide Placements in a COVID-Affected Economy

The placement session of Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) is about to start soon. As the economy has taken a hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many are wondering how are the top management colleges of India planning to provide placement to their students.

Students must also be worried about how they would manage to get a good return for their Rs. 15 - 25 lakh investment that goes into pursuing MBA from an IIM. However, students do not need to be worried as IIMs had started preparing for placements in August itself.

Are IIMs worried about placements this year?

No, IIMs are optimistic about placements this season with experts citing that hiring in tech-based firms, especially those based on fintech, ed-tech and health-tech companies is expected to increase this year. Consulting firms are also reported to be showing a positive response in this year's placements.

Will the placements at IIMs be delayed this year?

IIM Ahmedabad has delayed its placement process this year. Usually, placements at IIM-A start in November but this year, the placements have been scheduled to begin after a 1-month delay in December 2020.
