IIT BHU Completes 100 Years

As a part of the centenary celebrations of IIT BHU (Varanasi), the premier institute is organizing a variety of events. On May 19, 2018, IIT BHU organised the 16^th annual general body meeting followed by a panel discussion on “Building Leaders – A Future Role of Technical Education in India”. IIT BHU also organised ‘Award of Excellence’ ceremony to honour people with pioneer contributions in their respective fields.

Expressing his views on the theme of the panel discussion, Director of IIT BHU, Professor Rajeev Sangal pointed that technical education in the country must adopt new methodologies including the use of project-oriented learning, MOOCs and ICT (Information & Communication Technology). Such initiatives and methodologies will bolster the quality of technical education in the country. Apart from imparting innovative and quality technical education, IIT BHU is playing a vital role in inculcating human values in students, he highlighted.

The Alumni Association of IIT BHU has awarded the distinguished personalities in respective fields under four categories such as -

• Jury Choice Award – It is awarded to the person with outstanding contribution in the field of higher education and research, public service, entrepreneurship and management.
• Young Achiever Award – It is awarded to the person with substantial achievements in the field of Social Work, Culture, Art, Management and Entrepreneurship.
• Distinguished Alumnus Award – It is awarded to one of the alumni of IIT BHU for key contributions in the field of Management and Entrepreneurship.
• Life Time Achievement Award – It is awarded to people for their extensive work in higher education, technology and development.
