Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur trained 100 students for about one and half months, especially those who were not confident about facing campus placements. IIT-Kgp trained the students in collaboration with a private agency and gave them tips on how to face an interview. The placement season at the premier institute commenced from December 1, 2016. IIT-Kgp is the only institute in India which provides such kind of facility to the students. This year, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have lined up to recruit students.

The authorities of IIT-Kgp explained that the students who got trained for one and half month are not academically weak. Their grade points are impressive. However, they lack necessary communication skills in English. Hence, the students are trained in communication skills and other interview skills so that they are able to build confidence for facing interviews. The training programme commenced on October 1, 2016, and continued until November 12, 2016.

During the grooming session, students were given tips on how to dress, how to be more confident, how to present the academic achievements and long-term plans while attending an interview. Various industrial professionals also explained them real-life industry situations.
On the other hand, two pre-assessment tests were conducted during the training session on mathematical problem solving, English language and computer knowledge. The good news is that the students who took these tests are exempted from similar tests conducted by several recruiters. The students were also given proper guidance regarding choosing better employment opportunities.
