A new doctoral programme, PhD Fellowship Programme, has been launched by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) in partnership with ANSYS which is a US-based Engineering Software Development Firm. IIT Madras states that the programme will further the research work in various industries with the help of a 5-year programme.
The agreement was signed between IIT Madras’ Dean International and Alumni Affairs, Mahesh V Panchagnula and the Area Vice-President of India and South Asia Pacific Region at ANSYS, Rafiq Somani. Sources state that the partnerships will keep their focus on environmental sustainability, Healthcare, Conservation of Resources along with any other important aspect of Technology.

In a statement made by Rafiq Somani, he informed that this collaboration between the two parties is a step towards fulfilling their promise to back the innovation and research projects that are undertaken in India. He further added that ANSYS is focusing on three major areas of technology, i.e. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), 5G as well as Electrification. He also stated that ANSYS will be providing the students with the resources that they will require to complete research work in the area and bring forth the latest technological developments for the future.

Sources state that the step had been taken by ANSYS as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, wherein, they will be funding the projects, especially those that focus on environmental sustainability, education enhancement along with other socially-applicable topics that can be solved or helped with the usage of Technology
