IP University BTech Admissions: CUET secondary channel after JEE MainIP University Introduces CUET for BTech Admissions: The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) has come up with an important notification regarding the BTech admission process from the 2025-26 academic session onwards. According to the latest notification, the university will utilise the CUET score as a secondary mode of admission after the JEE Main merit list is completely exhausted. The reason behind this is to fill up the remaining engineering seats.
JEE Main will continue to be the primary and first preference for BTech admissions at IP University. Only after all eligible candidates from the JEE Main merit list have been allotted seats, the university will shift to CUET-based admissions. This is a clear indication that CUET is not replacing JEE Main but is an additional option.
The decision was approved by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and was communicated through an official order issued by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. With this approval, the policy is now applicable to the BTech programme (Programme Code 131) offered by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
Aspiring students seeking admission to IP University’s BTech courses are recommended to appear for both JEE Main and CUET exams. Students who are not able to get a seat in the JEE Main counselling process will also have a chance to get admission through CUET merit, if seats are available.
The university has clarified that all details about the subjects required, eligibility criteria, and admission guidelines will be provided in the UG Admission Brochure 2026-27, which will be available on the official IP University website.
