Jadavpur University's 54 Projects Sponsored by Leading Science and Research Bodies

Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das speaks about the various research projects undertaken by the University in partnership with some of the leading science and research organisations in India and abroad.

Jadavpur University Sponsored Research Projects

Jadavpur University (JU) is currently a part of 54 sponsored research projects, as per the premier institution's Vice-Chancellor Professor Suranjan Das.

He was speaking at the Annual Convocation of the university, which was held on 24th December 2019. In his address, he said that the projects are funded by leading science and research bodies, including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), which has provided its support to 41 projects out of the total 54.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has sponsored 7 research projects, while two research projects are under the ambit of the Department of Bio-Technology, the Department of Atomic Energy and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Vice-Chancellor Das continued to speak on the projects that have been undertaken by the University, mentioning that among the 7 CSIR projects, one of them was on the topic of Modelling and Analysis incidence. UNICEF also took up the responsibility of funding a research project on youth community reporters.

Another CSR project undertaken by an international organisation, Volkswagen Foundation Germany, offered a Rs. 4 crore funding towards an international research project on special economic zones.

VC Suranjan Das also specified the various conferences that had been organised between JU and other international universities in the year 2019. On 10th December 2018, high-level delegates from Germany’s University of Beyrouth had been hosted on the campus of JU. Further along the year, delegates from Arizona State University had been received on 6th March 2019. Recently, on 2nd December 2019, high-level delegates had been called over from New Zealand’s University of Auckland. All of the high-level conferences had been held on the topic of developing and designing research programmes along with teaching-learning processes.

The Vice-Chancellor concluded his speech by speaking on the importance “learning, unlearning and relearning”, where Universities become a platform for all academicians to deliberate and debate on different topics.
