500 J&K Students to Pursue Internships at IITs, IISER

500 students from Jammu & Kashmir will pursue internships in IITs and IISER. The selected students for internship in these premier institutes will work on research in the field of technology and science.

Internship for J & K Students

Around 500 students from Jammu & Kashmir who are pursuing the final-year of various professional courses and are pursuing science courses in various colleges located across J&K have got a chance to pursue two-month internships in various premier institutes such as IITs and IISER. An MoU has been signed between Higher Education Secretary - Talat Parvez, AICTE and four IITs & three IIESRs for this purpose.

According to the MoU, these students who will be graduating in 2021 will get a chance to undergo internships at IITs and IISERs. This initiative is noteworthy, as it will enhance, empower and inspire the students’ employability.

The selected students for internship in these premier institutes will work on research in the field of technology and science. These students will receive the guidance of IIT/ IISER faculty as a part of the internship.

Students aspiring to take up an internship in the final-year course can register for the same. However, students of engineering and sciences streams (both UG and PG) are only eligible to register for the internship opportunity.

The following institutes will offer internships to J&K students -

IIT Guwahati

IIT Ropar

IIT Bombay

IIT Bhubaneswar

IISER Orissa

IISER Pune

IISER Kolkata

According to the MoU, the travelling expenses of selected students will be borne by the HRD Ministry through All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). On the other hand, the hostel expenses of students will be funded by the host institutes.

The colleges will have to submit the online application form with the list of students interested in pursuing an internship. AICTE will select the eligible candidates on the basis of merit. The merit list/ selection list will be released on or before April 15, 2020. It is the responsibility of the colleges to make students aware of the internship scheme.

The training programme for the internship will take place from May 15 to July 15, 2020.
