JEE Main 24 January 2023 Shift 1 Question Paper Analysis

JEE MAIN 2023 PAPER ANALYSIS: On January 24, 2023, Day 1 of JEE Main 2023 examination was conducted. The first-morning shift was held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Majority of the candidates found the paper to be moderate level, with Mathematics was lengthy and Physics was moderate whereas Chemistry was relatively easy.  The mode of the exam was online computer-based. Given the unavailability of the question paper copy, after receiving the memory-based questions, the topic-wise weightage for all subjects for JEE Main today paper will be provided here. It will also include the subject-wise number of questions as per their difficulty level and overall difficulty of the paper according to student's first reaction.

The JEE Main question paper includes questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.The exam had a total of 90 questions divided equally among the three subjects. Each subject had 20 MCQ questions and 10 NAT questions, out of which students could choose any 5 to attempt. Overall, 60 questions were mandatory MCQs and 30 were optional NAT questions, total of 15 questions is mandatory to be attempted by the students. There was a negative marking scheme for all questions, including NAT. For each correct answer four marks are awarded and for every incorrect answer, one mark is deducted.

JEE Main 24 January 2023 Shift 1 Major Highlights

The major highlights of the JEE Main today paper (Jan 24), solely based on the first reactions of the students can be found below:

  • The overall difficulty of the paper was considered to be moderate
  • The difficulty level of the paper was considered to be same as previous years
  • Mathematics section was considered to be lengthy due to the calculation part being tricky
  • Students found the Physics section to be moderate
  • Chemistry section was found to be easy according to the students
  • Chemistry section contained many memory based direct NCERT questions
  • Organic chemistry contained numerical question in the chemistry section
  • Physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry contained integer based questions
  • Physics section many straight-forward fomula based questions
  • Mathematics section contained many questions from Vector 3D chapter
  • The NAT questions of Mathematics section was found to be lengthy, whereas the MCQ part was found to be moderate
  • Physics section had a "Find the Tension of a String" calculation based question
