JNU Pushes Winter Semester Registration Dates - Dates Extended from 15 to 17 Jan

The registration date for the Winter semester exam has been extended to 17 January 2020. The last date to prove eligibility for the JNU Winter semester is 20 January 2020. Check all the details regarding JNU monsoon semester exams.

JNU Academic Requirement

Jawaharlal Nehru University has again extended the last date to register for the winter semesters. The new last date to register for the JNU winter semester 2020 is 17 January. This is the third time in about a fortnight that JNU has extended the winter semester registration last date. The registration window for the JNU 2020 winter semesters will be reopened on the 20th of January again and will continue until the 26th of January. However, students who register for the winter semesters between 20 and 26 January have to pay a late fee of INR 100/- per day. In the case of foreign students, 5% of their tuition fee will be charged as a late fee.

JNU winter semesters for 2020 officially began from 13th January 2020 onwards. the decision to resume winter session academic activities was taken in a meeting where the Chairpersons of Special Centres and Deans of Schools were present. A circular regarding the same was released on January 10th as well.

The penalty will keep on increasing every 7 days for the registration defaulters. Those who fail to register for the 2020 winter semesters after 21 days might have to send a written request to the VC. Thereafter, the ball will be in the VC's court. The VC, if deemed appropriate, will allow such students to register by imposing the appropriate late fee fine.

Earlier, students of all programmes in Jawaharlal Nehru University who did not “fulfil their 2019 monsoon session academic requirements” were been given a new lease of life by the University administration. As per the Varsity notification released on December 30, such students have to clear the monsoon semester exam by 20th January 2020.

The varsity also issued a warning to the students that they will not be eligible to register for next semester in case they do not meet the academic requirements.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Head of Academic Council and Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar has urged all the Chairpersons and Deans to complete all the gradings, examinations and evaluations of those students who will provisionally register themselves within the specified timeline on or before 20th January 2020. The Vice-Chancellor was also very loud while speaking of what were the Varsity’s achievements in 2019. He seemed to be quite pleased while talking about the top position maintained by JNU among the country’s Central Universities along with things like NIRF and NAAC ratings.

Among other things, 2019 saw the introduction of some new programmes in JNU such as Special Centres of Disaster Research and National Security, Management & Entrepreneurship, School of Engineering etc. 2019 was also a good year for JNU faculty members as they received rupees 190 crores in project funding sanctioned by various funding agencies.
