The Karnataka Examination Authority has decided to withhold the CET 2020 Architecture rank list after receiving complaints of inconsistencies in marks calculation. The rules suggest that a candidate’s class XIIth exam score and the score of either JEE Main Paper II or NATA exam is given equal weightage during the preparation of the KEA Architecture rank list. The problem arose when the JEE Main Paper 2 result was announced in percentile score format whereas the remaining parameters remained in actual scores.
Students feel that during the calculation of the KEA Architecture rank list of the JEE candidates, the Karnataka Examinations Authority officials have mistakenly taken the JEE Main percentile score into consideration instead of the actual JEE score. This led to chaos among the NATA candidates as they were pushed down in the rank list while their JEE Main Paper 2 counterparts secured higher ranks.
The mistake, as pointed out by a parent, is that the officials have mistakenly considered the 90 percentile JEE score of a candidate as 90 per cent marks. The top-scorers in NATA exam, who happen to be in the bracket of 87-88%, have been placed lower in the rank list.
The parents have submitted a memorandum to both the Minister of Higher Education and other elected representatives as their previous two-day meeting offered no clarity.
KEA has finally decided to act on it and has decided to withhold the architecture rank list. In a statement, KEA has regretted the inconvenience caused to both the students and parents.
