The admission process for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) courses will begin across the state from Wednesday and it will be done online. According to Kolhapur ITI principal Dinesh Mane, the detailed schedule of the admission process is likely to be announced on Monday by the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET).
The Kolhapur ITI is offering about 1,300 seats. "Most of the times, all seats get filled up before the final round, and depending on the response, there may be up to five rounds of admissions. During the last few years, our seats were filled before the commencement of the final round."

Another official from the institute said the online admission system is a major reason deterring students from the last two years. "Generally, students from rural areas opt for ITI courses, but when they are made to fill forms through the online mode, many of them chose other courses," said the official.
He added that the institute has seen a response of about 5,000 applications for the 1,300 seats offered by the institute. However, many students confirm their admissions during further scrutiny and this number varies every year. In 2013, the DVET introduced the online admission process in the state which witnessed many server errors.
