The Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India launched their one of the most sought after Task-Based-Training (TBT) course e-Yantra, the course for online learning of robotics and machine language. 'e-Yantra' project is under the control of IIT Bombay, and many e-Yantra labs have been set up across the country including Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar. 23 faculty members of Engineering in LPU were awarded cash prize and certificates for their exceptional robotic skills under the e-Yantra initiative. One robotic kit ‘Firebird V Robot’ was also given to each of the team members for different phases of task-based training. Firebird V Robot is a piece of advanced robotic machinery that will help the teachers of LPU get more insight into Robotics Technology.

LPU is looking at setting up a Robotics Laboratory at the LPU campus for training and procedures, under IIT Bombay as per the directions of the MHRD. This MHRD project is through the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), and the aim is to spread awareness regarding the embedded systems and robotics education in institutes across India.

This e-Yantra project by MHRD is divided into three parts which are, e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative or eLSI, which is for conducting workshops for teachers to embed theoretical programming language in the faculty members. Task-Based Training or TBT focus towards giving hands-on online education experience to the teachers and finally, the third part of the project is to help universities and institutes set up their own e-Yantra Laboratory.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal congratulated the faculty members who got awarded. Mittal also motivated the faculties for their hard work and persuasive attitude which will help them reach more glorious achievements in the future.
