Candidates planning to pursue Ph.D. at Lucknow University will not have to wait more as the varsity is planning to start the admission process in September.
The Department of Higher Education, Lucknow University has passed the new Ph.D. ordinance which was on hold for almost 11 months. The Ph.D admissions for this academic year were to take place last year in September but due to the decision on hold, there was a delay in the process. The Raj Bhawan refused to pass the ordinance and raised objections on the varsities decision to give extra weightage to the candidates who have qualified National Eligibility Test or Junior Research Fellowship.

According to the Governor, the evaluation process of the university was also not streamlined due to which he decided to send back the ordinance. It was in November 2017 that the university official sent a revised ordinance. The ordinance has been passed by the higher education department and will be sent to the university shortly.

Madhu Joshi, Special Secretary, Higher Education that LU’s Ph.D. ordinance is still in process and the university will be provided with an ordinance shortly so that they can start the admission process for Ph.D. admissions as soon as possible without any further delay.
