The MCC has updated the NEET UG 2026 counselling rules, eliminating mandatory physical reporting for candidates opting for seat upgrades. Aspirants can now retain their allotted seat online while participating in subsequent rounds.
MCC Changes NEET UG 2026 Counselling RulesMCC Changes NEET UG 2026 Counselling Rules: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has brought some changes to the online counselling process of NEET UG and PG medical admission process. As per the revised counselling rules, the physical documentation for the NEET UG and PG counselling will be minimised. The primary aim is to improve transparency for the medical candidates. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has circulated the details of the new measure to the state counselling authorities ahead of the NEET UG counselling process.
Key Reforms in NEET UG 2026 Counselling Process
Go through the key reforms that have been revised for MCC NEET UG 2026 counselling from this year.
- No Physical Reporting for Seat Upgradation: If the candidates choose the “Willing to Upgrade" option, they do not need to physically report to the allotted colleges. Instead, the allotted seat will be automatically secured in the system if they participate in the next counselling round.
- Fully Online Seat Resignation: As per the new rule, now the candidates can submit the resignation request online whenever it is permissible. For the same, the candidates should submit their resignation via the MCC counselling portal.
- Digital NRI Quota Document Verification: Candidates can now upload all required supporting documents online through the MCC counselling portal. Previously, the candidates needed to undergo the complex offline and physical document submission process.
- Directives to State Authorities for Seat & Fee Transparency: MCC has asked DME authorities and Deemed universities to issue an official notice regarding the vacancies across the colleges, fee structures, and bond requirements on the official portal. So that nobody will pay any hidden cost when taking the final admissions.
Now the candidates should keep checking the official website to know about the Round 1 seat matrix and counselling schedule. If the candidates plan to participate in both the AIQ and State Quota counselling, then they must follow the state's exit rules aligned with MCC guidelines to prevent conflicts.
