MHRD to Celebrate the "Freedom Fortnight"

Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) will be celebrating Independence Day in a grand manner this year. The ministry is planning a series of events in educational institutions across the country. The department earlier took the decision that the period from 9th August 2016 to 23rd August 2016 will be celebrated as "Aazadi 70-Yaad Karo Kurbani". The objective of the proposed event is to reinstill a spirit of freedom struggle, patriotism and national movement among the youth. The ministry has sent a suggested list of activities to all the heads of states/union territories.

The proposed list of activities are:-

  • On 23rd August 2016, mass recitation of National Anthem by all the students of various educational institutes at 11.00 AM.

  • The school children will paint greeting cards for the Jawans.

  • The students can take up Mass tree plantation drive to promote the idea of sustainable development.

  • The schools can organise guest lectures on the theme of the freedom movement and nationalism.

  • School managements can conduct Various competitions like painting, essay writing, elocution, patriotic song singing and slogan writing.

  • The institutes can send the reports of activities carried out along with photographs to azadi70@gov.in

  • The Department of Higher Education suggested the institutes to conduct the activities in a benefiting manner.
