Nagpur’s Raisoni College Introduces B.Tech in AI

G. H. Raisoni College of engineering is the second college in India to launch a B.Tech course in Artificial Intelligence after IIT Hyderabad. The intake capacity for the course is 60.

Nagpur’s Raisoni College Introduces B.Tech in AI

The All India Council of Technical Education or AICTE has given its approval to the G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur to start Bachelors level engineering course (B.Tech) in Artificial Intelligence which is expected to begin from 2019-20 academic year.

This has made the Raisoni College, Nagpur the second college to incorporate the course after the Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad which got the nod for the same earlier this year. The IIT Hyderabad in January officially announced the admissions in B.Tech Artificial Intelligence courses with a total of intake capacity of 20 and the candidates will be given admissions through the Joint Entrance Examination or JEE (advanced).

The director of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Preeti Bajaj has said that the Indian companies are investing heavily in Artificial Intelligence. The current scenario in India is suitable for AI professionals who sometimes get 60 to 80% salary hikes when they switch jobs. India is in need of a high number of AI workforce. She hoped that the inception of the course in the Nagpur College will help to cater to the AI professional need in the industry.

Bajaj informed that the institute has set up an excellence centre for admissions in the AI and Machine Learning course last year. The Institute started the course with an intake capacity of 60 which is three times higher than IIT Hyderabad. She applauded the endeavours of Sunil Raisoni who is the chairman of Raisoni group who worked hard to introduce the course in the college.

The NIRF (National Institute Ranking Framework) 2019 ranking of Raisoni College is 111, the college also scored a place within the top 100 in the Atal Institute Ranking Framework (AIRF). Bajaj said that the institute is one of the best in India with an A+ rank accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The institute has also good ranks in other Indian patent standards.
