NID (National Institute of Design) has extended the last date for uploading the Thematic Presentation and Sample Work for its admissions of the B.Des (Bachelor of Design) and the GDPD (Graduate Diploma Programme in Design) courses. Candidates who are applying for admission to B.Des or GDPD at the National Institutes of Design (NIDs) for the academic cycle of 2020 - 2021 can upload their work samples by June 13, 2020. Earlier, the last date set by NID for uploading these documents was June 12, 2020. However, later the date was moved forward to June 13 and the notification released by NID stated that candidates can upload their work samples for admission to the UG courses of NID till 6 pm.
In order to upload the Thematic Reflective Presentation and Sample of Work, the applicants will be required to go to the official website of the NID DAT exam and log in by using their individual login credentials which include details such as date of birth, email address etc. Certain changes have been made by the admission authorities of NID for its B.Des, GDPD, and M.Des (Master of Design) admissions 2020. The weightage of NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains has also been changed for the final selection of candidates.
A notification has been released by the NIDs in which it has been declared that the GDPD course of NID will be discontinued from the academic year 2020 - 2021. All the seats of GDPD that were allocated in some of the NID campuses will now be converted into the B.Des seats. Hence, NID will start offering B.Des at all of its campuses from the year 2020 onwards.
Update:NID released its seat allotment list for B.Des on August 4, 2020. All the candidates who have been mentioned in the seat allotment list need to pay the token fee and upload the required documents by August 11, 2020. If any student fails to do these formalities within the given deadline, he/ she will be disqualified and will not be considered for admission.

How to Upload NID B.Des and GDPD Admission Documents 2020
The steps to upload the work samples for NID B.Des and GDPD admissions 2020 have been listed below. Candidates can follow these steps to complete the submission of their work samples on the website.
- The candidates will have to log on the official website of NID or NID DAT 2020.
- On the home page, they will find the link for uploading their Thematic Reflective Presentation and Sample of Work.
- The applicant will have to enter his/ her email address and date of birth that he/ she registered in the application form.
- The candidate will have to click on the ‘Submit’ button available after opening the link and after entering the login details.
- They can upload their Thematic Reflective Presentation and Sample of Work for B.Des or GDPD.
The exam criteria of NID DAT (National Institute of Design - Design Aptitude Test) has been changed by NIDs for selecting the students for its programmes this year. Apart from the selection criteria, the mode of exam of NID DAT Mains 2020 has also been changed and it will now be held in the online mode. The revised exam date of NID DAT Mains 2020 has been announced. NID DAT Mains 2020 for B.Des and GDPD will be held from June 22, 2020 onwards. The students will not be called to the campuses of NID for the other rounds of admission this year instead they will have to be present for an online interaction round. These changes are being made so that the safety of students is ensured during the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
