Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource and Development pointed that Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadavpur University achieved top rank because of the good research that was done by the students of these universities. Both the universities have carried out exceptional research particularly in the field of science.
HRD Minister released the NIRF Rankings 2017 on April 3, 2017. As per the rankings, Jawaharlal Nehru University achieved the second position while Jadavpur University entered top 10 list be securing the fifth rank.

Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadavpur University have become the centres of protests in the past few months. Despite that, these varsities have performed exceptionally in all the parameters prescribed by NIRF.
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has once again secured the first rank in the best university category. HRD Ministry also released the list of best colleges in India. As per rankings, University of Delhi dominated the top 10 list. A total number of six colleges of Delhi University achieved ranks under the top 10 rank list.

Apart from the best university and college rankings, HRD Ministry also released the list of top engineering, management, and pharmacy colleges. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad achieved the top rank under best management colleges followed by Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Under the best engineering college category, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has achieved the top rank.
All the institutes and universities that achieved top ranks have the capability to achieve global rankings, provided they continue to strive for the same through the maximisation of their efforts.
