NIT Trichy Alumni Gives US$ 3 Million for Research and Development

NIT Trichy alumni have decided to partake in the research and development of the institute, by contributing a massive US$ 3 million. The aim of the alumni participation has been to proactively produce research scholars from different fields of engineering while also facilitating career growth.

On Monday, 30th December 2019, NIT Trichy Director, Mini Shaju Thomas, announced that the alumni of the institute have decided to contribute to the research and development of the different facets of the institute. As per the press release, the NIT Trichy alumni have decided to contribute US$ 3 million for research and development.

The press release has further stated that in the next two years, more doctorates will come forward to donate US$ 3 million within the next two years. The release stated that the step will ensure that the NIT Trichy is able to guide and produce research scholars from various engineering fields.

Commenting on the contribution, Director Mini Shaji Thomas stated that a difference in the outlook of the graduates has been witnessed. She stated that the alumni are more willing and focused on assisting the all-round development of the institute.

Corporate Vice President of HCL Technologies, Srimathi Shivashankar, who is also an alumnus of the institute, spoke on the WIN-NITT platform at the institute. She stated the platform will enable female alumni of the institute to expand their networking capabilities, which would collaboratively help the college and the alumni.

WIN-NITT had been established to motivate and facilitate women alumni to work towards their career goals and grow career-wise with the help of networking and support offered by the NIT Trichy alumni.

Among the contributions, NASSCOM Council Chairman R Chandrasekar has stated that a world-class stadium has been planned at an expenditure of ₹6.2 crores. He added that the construction for the same has been scheduled to begin within the next 6 months and be completely built by the end of 2021.
