No Takers for Degree Courses at Kakatiya University

Around 1.28 lakh degree seats are vacant in Kakatiya University and its affiliated colleges. The authorities of the university and the college managements are desperately seeking admissions. The academic year for the first year UG students is scheduled to commence from 4-August-2016. Almost all the seats are empty in 26 affiliated colleges and no one has joined so far. The admission process was over. Less than 10 students joined in eight colleges. Most of the colleges are on the verge of closure as they didn’t get required admissions.

The situation has completely changed from the days when it was difficult to secure seats. Some of the experts said that online degree study has hit the regular classes drastically. Most of the government and private colleges did not get enough admissions and the future of these colleges is unknown. So far, 64,000 seats were filled.

This year, the university has introduced online degrees in 70 combinations and the students are keen to join online degree courses. This has affected the regular classes. However, the authorities of the university mentioned that the fall of admissions is only 5% this year.
