QS World Sustainability Rankings 2026; List of Top Indian InstitutesQS World Sustainability Rankings 2026 have been officially released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), making this the 4th edition of global rankings, which assesses more than 2,000 universities across 106 countries. The rankings evaluate how universities perform in different ESG areas. These include environmental commitments like carbon reduction and climate action, social impact such as equality and community development, and governance quality, including transparency and long-term sustainability goals. The purpose is to show how well universities are contributing to a greener and socially responsible future.
This year, India’s presence in the QS sustainability rankings 2026 is quite impressive, with 103 Indian universities being featured, placing India in the fourth position globally in terms of total representation. Many universities have shown clear improvement, as 32 Indian institutes climbed up the rankings compared to last year. Leading the country this time is the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), which secured its highest score ever of 83.1 and achieved the 205th global rank. Following IIT Delhi are IIT Bombay, placed at rank 235 with a score of 81.4, and IIT Kharagpur, close behind at rank 236, scoring 81.3. These results reflect India’s growing focus on sustainability-driven education, research, and employability, especially in fields tied to environmental sustainability and global development.
