The Vice-Chancellor of Queen University Belfast, Ian Greer has announced that a team from the varsity has been working towards identifying Indian entrance exams, the scores of which can be accepted in its admissions.
Recently, Queens University Belfast had accepted Joint Entrance Exam or JEE Mains scores for the admission to its engineering courses. Ian Greer stated that the varsity is ready to accept scores obtained in Indian entrance examinations that are “credible and attract quality students”. He also added that apart from JEE Mains, no other entrance exam fro, India have been allowed in its admission processes. However, a team has been working towards shortlisting more entrance examinations, relevant to the respective courses.
Ian Greer had visited Delhi in November 2019, along with a delegation from the University, to converse with stakeholders from India. They also explored the idea of collaboration with Indian Universities and Industries as well.
Supporting the recent decision undertaken by the Government of the UK which eases the visa norms by providing a two-year post-study work visa. He called the move by the government as a positive development for the UK as well as the potential students.
He stated that prior to the decision, the students were forced to return to their country. However, with the reformed visa regulations, the students will gain the ability to live in the UK and gain the needed experience in the respective disciplines. This change will bring a positive development for the country and the students, he added.

As per sources, there are over 200 students from India who have taken admission in the various programmes offered by the Queens University Belfast. The University has also introduced a five-year engagement plan which is aimed at drawing more Indian students to enrol under the different programmes offered by them.

Under the five-year engagement plane, the Queens University Belfast will be partnering with the Indian Institutions and undertake other outreach programmes to attract the Indian students. The University has also planned a summer school in June of 2020, for the aspirants who wish to pursue different management programmes.
