RNT College goes tobacco free by 15 August

RNT (Ravindra Nath Tagore) Medical College now takes a vow for tobacco free campus. Administration of RNT Medical College has escalated anti-tobacco movement in the campus over the last one week. It means administration aims to tobacco free hospital and college campus in Udaipur. They decided the penalty for the students or person who will use the tobacco products like smoking Cigarette or other chewing tobacco products like gutkha or kheni etc.

RNT medical college administration informed in an open letter to the media, the Principal has described how over the last five days, people smoking or chewing tobacco products within campus have been given Challans. The purpose of Challan is more than a penalty which is aimed at educating them of the ills and side effects of Tobacco products.

Yesterday, more than 5 people caught smoking were handed Challans while 4 people, who were chewing Gutkha were educated on the harms of Tobacco. RNT Medical College is the only Medical college in the state to have initiated this campaign, which aims to eradicate Tobacco use from campus by 15th August, Independence Day this year.

With students all staff of the college, which includes Doctors, Nurses, support staff, etc have pledged to keep away from Tobacco products compulsorily. Further they have also pledged to eradicate use of Tobacco from campus by education patients and their relatives.

In this campaign various teams have been formed to stabilize this initiative, which will educate and aware peoples about use and side effects and ills of the tobacco products. Health Education and Challan team includes Dr. Rupa Sharma, Dr. Poonam Poswal, Mr. Laxmilal Veerwal and Mr. Harish Kumar Choubisa. Media team includes Dr. Gopal Bunkar and Dr. Narendra Rathod.
