Saveetha University Celebrates its 29th Founders' Day

One of the leading private universities of the country, Saveetha University celebrated its 29th Founders Day on 18 November 2016 with a plethora of activities. Mr.K.Chellamuthu, leader of Tamilar Vivasaigal Sangam presided over the function as the chief guest.

Several meritorious students who achieved excellent results in their examination at the University level were felicitated. Cash prize worth INR 91 lakhs was given to the rank holders and INR 24 lakhs was awarded to several meritorious students for their publications in various reputed international and national journals.

At the function, several prominent people who had made a significant contribution in their respective areas of works were also awarded. These awardees were-

  • Thiru B.Kumar, Senior Advocate, Madras High Court
  • Prof. M.F.Baig, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
  • Mr. M.Ponnuswami, MD, Pon Pure chemicals Ltd
  • Dr. S.Gomathinayagam, Director General, National Institute of Wind Energy, Chennai
  • Dr. C.S.Vijay Shankar, Senior Cardiothoracic and aortic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals

In 1988, Saveetha Dental College was started by Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan. Ever since its inception, from the last 29 years, Saveetha University has seen tremendous growth and curved a niche globally for providing world class education. The University offers several courses at the different level. Some of the popular courses offered at Saveetha University are-

  • Management

The University also awarded the Young Achiever’s award to Master Sanjan Lenin, for his winning performance in International Olympiad Competition and Spell Bee International Competition.

Chancellor of the University, Dr. N.M.Veeraiyan, while delivering his speech at the function said that Saveetha University has allotted huge funds for research purposes. He also motivated the students to work towards research and development so that they can contribute to the betterment of the country and at the same time he also promised to help these students in their endeavours.
