Tamil Nadu School Holiday 30 November 2024: A cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal is responsible for the downpour, which has led to serious waterlogging, traffic congestion, and safety issues. With heavy to extremely heavy rains expected over the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain advisory for Chennai and the adjacent areas. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 km/h are also forecast. Several districts, including Cuddalore, Vilupuram, Chengalpattu, Chennai, Puducherry, and Karikal, declared November 29 a vacation for schools and institutions in response to the weather.
