Out of 20,000 teachers, almost 7500 teachers in Gujarat are found to be wrongly evaluating class Xth and class XIIth exam papers of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. The marks were either tallied or evaluated incorrectly by them. The board took several measures to keep a check on such practices, still the number of erring teachers has risen from 6,600 in 2018 to 7500 in 2019.
GSHEB Chaimran A J Shah said that it is surpising that the number of teachers found to have made mistakes in the class 10th and 12th evaulation has not been declining rather there has been increase in the number. The board conducted vasrious workshops and meeting regarding this matter. The teachers were also given instructions to make them realise their moral duty as teachers.
In the year 2017, around 8.000 teachers were informed of their negilgence during the meeting with the education minister.This year, as well they will have to face Bhupendra Chudasama, Education Minister who will discuss the same with them.

Usually, for evaluating purposes, the government school teachers are contacted first and when they are unavailable, then teachers from grant-in-aid schools or private schools are contacted.
The process of evaluating the already evaluated sheets takes a lot of time. Although the Board has made sure and taken several measures so that his discrepancy does not come in the way of a student’s growth.
