Three IIM Fellows Join MYRA School of Business as Faculty

The MYRA School of Business is one of the leading al B-School of India located in the royal city of Mysore. The institute is delighted to announce that three new faculties have joined them recently, with expertise and experience in diverse areas of Business Management and they have embarked their academic careers with MYRA.They are -

  • Dr. Sudhir Kamath (Finance)
  • Prof. Sivakumar S (Ph.D.) (Operations Management)
  • Dr. Aparna Venugopal (Organizational Behaviour)

About Dr. Sudhir Kamath:

He is a Fellow in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, with a specialization in Finance, and Masters of Management Studies from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani.

Prior to working in private equity, Dr. Kamath has contributed eight years to ICICI as a Project Officer and as Leasing Manager to corporate clientele.He has lead and managed investments in over 50 companies as VP (Investments) in ICICI Ventures; served as Founding Partner/Director of Global Technology Ventures; worked as Managing Director with 2i Capital, and as Director of Brand Capital at BCCL. At BCCL, he achieved significant milestones for Brand Capital-South whose growth increased by over 100% both in terms of deals sanctioned and actual advertising spend by portfolio companies. He was instrumental in breaking into the dotcom and start-up world in Bangalore; has contributed to some marquee deals at Big Basket, Cafe Coffee Day, and Caratlane; maintained the leadership position in the real estate space in Hyderabad and Bangalore. Over the years, he has served on the Boards of over 20 companies across sectors, and on the Investment Committees of all the funds, he was involved with and currently also serves as Independent Director on the Board of Sical Logistics Limited, Chennai. He joins MYRA as associate professor of Finance.

With all these brilliant academic record to his credit, over two decades of experience in private equity/venture capital/projects/leasing areas in India, and having experience of the full-fund cycle, debt as well as equity transactions, he reflects MYRA's commitment to blend academics with deep industry experience and will bring his vast practical experience to teaching finance courses and enrich students' learning in the complex and sophisticated field of Finance.

In an interview Dr. Sudhir Kamath says-

"I was looking for a serene atmosphere where teaching took precedence and the students took learning seriously. MYRA with its well-laid out campus; faculty from all over the world and students chosen carefully from across the length and breadth of India was the right fit. MYRA has to be seen to be believed. It has surpassed all my expectations in terms of the quality of students, their innate smartness, and eagerness to assimilate concepts and the camaraderie amongst the faculty is something that I have come to value."

About Prof. Sivakumar S:

He is soon to be awarded doctoral fellow in Production and Operations Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has a PG Diploma in Management from IIM, Bangalore, and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Trichy.

Passionate about teaching, he also has 14 years of IT industry experience with Wipro Technologies including 7 years of international experience in Europe and USA. During his tenure with Wipro, he has executed in diverse roles including software delivery management, project management, account management, mining sales, domain competency development, and corporate training.

Prof. Sivakumar S is the recipient of several professional and academic awards and honours - the winner of SAP Labs Merit Scholarship award during his doctoral program at IIM, Bangalore; the winner of Director's Merit List (DML) award for his academic performance at both doctoral level and post-graduation level at IIM, Bangalore.

He joins MYRA as assistant professor of Operations Management. Prof. Sivakumar brings a blend of outstanding academic and professional track record, high-quality research publications, along with rich consulting and industry experience.

In an interview Prof Sivakumar S, says-

About Dr. Aparna Venugopal:

She has a doctoral degree in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. Dr. Venugopal has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and holds the First Rank for MBA from University of Calicut 2010. Her Ph.D. thesis is on 'Enabling mechanisms of top management team processes for organizational ambidexterity in SMEs' strongly anchored in the themes of strategic management and organizational design of innovations.' She brings strong quantitative methods to behavioral sciences and problem solving in businesses. She brings with her excellent academic record, and significant research experience having publications in national and international conferences/journals.

Dr. Aparna Venugopal has a number of academic and professional awards to her credit, including a full grant from Oikos Academy -"Young Scholars Entrepreneurship Academy" held in Zurich in January 2015. She joins MYRA as assistant professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management.

These talented new faculty members look forward to building their academic careers teaching, researching and consulting in their respective chosen area of specializations and are pleased to work with faculty colleagues and students at MYRA. In an interview Dr. Aparna Venugopal says-

"Having defended my doctoral thesis successfully from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, I was sure that I wanted to join the noble profession of teaching. However, I was not sure of where to join. I knew that I wanted to join a business school that did not focus on imparting management education alone. I wanted to be a part of an institute that, along with management education, emphasized a strong ethical and social value system in the students, and adopted a global perspective in its pedagogical approach. MYRA fit this bill completely. Furthermore, on observing, MYRA's stringent student admission criteria and eminent global faculty, I was assured that I would be joining a management institute at par if not better than the premier management institutes of the country.
