TOEFL Scores to be Declared Within Six Days of Taking the Test

The test score of TOEFL (the Test of English as a Foreign Language) will now be provided to the test takers within six days of taking the exam as opposed to the previous period of minimum ten days. The Educational Testing Services (ETS) is responsible for conducting the TOEFL and releasing its scorecard. It has now also launched the official application of TOEFL for helping students in registering for the English language exam.

Srikant Gopal, the Executive Director of the programme of TOEFL, said that they have reduced the time of reporting the scores to six days as a part of an effort for enhancing the test experience for students and also for increasing its value to all institutions across the world. The TOEFL app is available for all android and iOS users and the students aiming to give the TOEFL exam can now download the app through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The mobile application will offer features that are similar to the online accounts of students and will include the test registration, finding the test centers, and searching for open seats in a period of two months.

The users of the TOEFL app will be able to buy comprehensive guides and links to practice material that will be free of cost. It will also include a full-length practice test of the exam as well as TOEFL insider’s guide and online course scores. Through the application, students can view score reports from all the valid test administrations along with the best scores, and send additional score reports to certain designated institutions.

Students can also make requests for health-related needs and disability accommodations by using the app and they will be permitted to view the status of all of their current and past requests. The Educational Testing Services had announced certain changes regarding TOEFL earlier this year and declared that those alterations were being done in order to bring the test in sync with the changing demands of educational institutions.

From the month of August, the duration of TOEFL has been shortened by 30 minutes and the total number of questions in the sections of reading, listening, and speaking has also been reduced. Earlier, the duration of TOEFL was three and a half hours. In May, the ETS had also announced the introduction of a feature ‘My Best Scores’ which combines the best scores of the test takers for each section from all the valid scores of TOEFL from the previous two years. The option gives the students allowance to show their overall best performance in the test to institutions which will lead them to important academic decisions.

TOEFL is a global test for the English language which is considered by over 10,000 institutions across 150 countries. It is accepted universally and especially in popular destinations for higher studies like Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and about 98 percent of the universities in the UK.
