A proposal has been sent to the Uttar Pradesh state government for the approval of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Parishad allowing the compartmental exams in UP board. The compartmental exams are exams which a candidate can give if he/ she fails in one of the subjects in the board exam.
A senior official of Uttar Pradesh Board said that if the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Parishad allows this proposal then this option will be available from the next academic session. He also added that UP Board allows the students who fail in one exam to sit for an improvement exam, however, this kind of facility is not available at the intermediate level.

An official said that some of the students who fail in one exam in class 12 apply for scrutiny but the count of these students is very less.
This decision was taken thinking about the students as usually there used to be two papers for each subject but in 2019 there is only one paper for each subject. Previously, the students had the chance to cover up for their score in the second paper if they had not performed well in the first one. But, now the pressure on students is even more and this has made it tough for the students to clear the exams.
The officials also stated that parents of the students studying in UP Board are writing stating their worries about the future of their children and mentioning that it is very important for a student to clear class 12 in one go for a better future. This is also a reason for UP Board to send a proposal for class 12 compartmental exam to the UP state government.
