Utkal University Exempted from Taking UGC Nod for Distance Learning Courses

Utkal University does not need to take permission from UGC for running the ODL courses anymore. UGC has come up with the list of 25 universities that are exempted from the UGC nod.

Utkal University offers various distance learning courses and one of the latest updates is that the varsity does not need approval from the UGC for running the open and distance learning (ODL) courses anymore.

Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) released a list of 25 universities in India which includes Utkal University. These universities have been exempted from taking UGC approval to run ODL courses.

As per the 4.10 clause of the UGC Regulations, Varsities can offer courses in the open distance learning mode without the approval of UGC if it satisfies all the conditions of UGC (ODL) regulations 2017 and amendments. The universities will have to complete the admission process within a time limit. According to the official notification, varsities should set February end as the deadline for the January academic session and similarly August should be the deadline for the July academic session.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will give Rs.100 crore for assistance for the infrastructure development. The CM announced this after the inauguration of the five-day platinum celebration of Odisha's premier university. He informed that the top priority of the government is to improve the quality of education at all levels.

UGC has directed that these 25 universities which have been exempted from the same will be required to upload the admission details within a period of 10 days. The deadline is 10th March for the January academic session and 10th September for the July session.

Utkal University SM Patnaik informed that the university is now under the category-I and they are happy to announce that they have the autonomy to launch new courses. The exemption will help be a great help forDirectorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DDCE)
