History, Affiliations and Rankings
Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) was established in 1976 and became the first such college of medicine in Mindanao. DMSF features in the list of Medical Council of India (MCI) and Hospitals that are affiliated to the institute include DMSF Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, San Pedro Hospital and Southern Phillippines Medical Center. There are approximately 125 faculty members at DMSF with professional experience in multiple medical specialties. The Consortium that perate the Foundation is registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is approved by he Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Accomplishments & Alumni
DMSF has been ranked top 6 among the medical colleges located in the Philippines. DMSF is the first medical college in the Philippines to install 3D Anatomage. DMSF is regarded as the first medical institution in the Philippines to set up simulated mannequin stations for clinical teaching and training. The foundation has been recently declared as the overall championship in Hinigalaay. Graduates of DMSF, as of today, are not only associated with the affiliated hospitals but with several top medical associations all across the globe.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The institution is located on a 2.5-hectare land, conveniently close to the centre of Davao City. DMSF has 5 universities in the city that offer a number of courses in the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Biology and Midwifery. The college has an ultra-modern international library with international students. The library at Davao Medical School Foundation is called as ‘DMSF Knowledge Resource Centre’ which is also considered as one of the most modern libraries in Asia. Another unique feature of DMSF is 3D Anatomage. The interactive anatomy dissection unit at DMSF is connected to the local network. Through this facility, students can learn di-section techniques before they start practising on the cadaver.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
In order to promote individual and group learning perspectives, DMSF has set up a Team Learning Centre (TLC). TLC at DMSF is the first-of-its-kind initiative in the Philippines. Indian students can take admission in DMSF if they satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by the institute. DMSF offers a medical course in English medium, and Indian students can seek admission without much hassle. The Davao hospital has over 4,000 beds where students of DMSF get enough practical experience and exposure.
