Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts examination for hiring officers in different banks across the country. It receives online applications from lakhs of aspirants for the banking sector jobs.

IBPS conducts the common written exam (CWE) for selection of officers in 29 nationalized banks and regional rural banks across India.

Interested candidates are required to apply online at IBPS website and then appear for the online objective exam.

It is among the most competitive examinations in India. Candidates receive the date and venue of the exam via a call letter, which will be available for download a few days after they register at the IBPS website. The exam uses negative marking for false answers.

IBPS is conducted in two phases. Tier I is an easier exam where a larger number of candidates are expected to pass, and tier II has a higher level of difficulty. Candidates who pass both stages of CWE will be called for the interview.

The exam syllabus covers topics such as reasoning, general awareness, English language, quantitative aptitude, computer knowledge and professional knowledge.

Successful candidates are offered placements in banks. Interviews are a part of the selection process.

Selection Procedure for PO is classified in 3 phases

• Phase 1 preliminary Objective Test
• Phase 2 mains Objective Test
• Phase 3 interview.

Preliminary exams take place in November and mains exams are conducted in December, followed by interviews scheduled for the month of January. 

For appearing in IBPS PO, a candidate must clear the graduation in any discipline. But there are no any percentage criteria for IBPS PO Exam. The minimum age must be 20 while the maximum is 30 years. There is also some age relaxation based on the applicant’s category like caste, disability etc.
