NITs or National Institutes of Technology are a group of the oldest colleges in India. they are the second most prestigious chain of central engineering colleges after the Indian Institutes of Technology. There are 20 old NITs that offer 14555 seats and 10 new NITs that offer 930 seats.

In order to take admission in either of the NITs, you will have to appear for JEE Mains exam. Admissions are done strictly on the basis of merit. Candidates will have to clear the JEE Mains exam and apply for the central counselling for seat allocation in either of the NITs.

NITs, especially the old ones are the colleges that offer some of the best placement offers. Companies like Microsoft, HP, Google, Suzuki, Bosch, L&T, etc participate in the campus placement of these colleges.
